Celebramos National Hispanic Heritage Month!

In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed National Hispanic Heritage Week, which was observed during the week that included Sept. 15 and 16. The observance was expanded in 1988 to a monthlong celebration from Sept. 15-Oct. 15. The recognition month always starts on Sept. 15--the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, followed by Mexico and Chile, which celebrate their independence on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively. Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the rich culture and traditions of those who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations in Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

This month especially, the CHBA acknowledges the achievements of our fellow members, alumni and students, who continue to contribute significantly to the advancement of our community and profession. Keep an eye out for member spotlights on our social media pages throughout the coming month!
